From October 16, 2007b to November 12, 2007, in the Official Documents Department (2nd floor, room 207) is open a book exhibition “United Nations Organization – the guarantor of international peace and stability” dedicated to the United Nations Day.


Materials exposed at the exhibition reveal the UNO activities in the field of peace and international security, development of friendly relationships between nations on the ground of mutual esteem, equality and self-consciousness of peoples, and joint efforts of peoples on resolution of economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian issues.
The exposition presents over 100 materials from the NLB’s collections in Russian and English languages: books, periodicals, mimeographed materials of the UNO (masthead), brochures, and booklets.
The exhibition includes the following subject sections:
  • United Nations Organization: general information
  • Peace and international security maintenance
  • Economic and social development
  • United Nations Organization and Belarus
There are presented materials on the UNO, its history, and the United Nations Member States.
The exhibition is timed to the United Nations Day. On October 24, 1945, was adopted the Charter of the UNO, and since 1948 this Day has being traditionally celebrated all over the world. In 1971 the General Assembly advised member states of the UNO to celebrate this Day as the national holiday (resolution 2782 (XXVI)).
We invite to the exhibition specialists in international law and relationships, political scientists, students and professors, as well as all who is interested in the UNO activities.
