From October 13th, 2009, to October 26th, 2009, in Belarusian literature reading room (room 205) is open a book exhibition “Writer from the country of childhood” dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Belarusian writer and dramatist Alexei Yakimovich.


Alexei Yakimovich lives and works in Belarusian town Slonim. In 1987 the author’s first story for teenagers was published. Since then the author has written a number of books and plays for children. The works by the writer acquaint the young reader with the Belarusian history and events of the XIV century. Fantastic, adventure and fantastic plots mention environmental problems, tell about a school life. With all genre and thematic variety, they are full of the cognitive content which expands the reader’s outlook and gives them new knowledge.

Recently Alexei Yakimovich has begun to write plays for the adult audience. The premiere of one of them – “Temptation” - took place in the State Drama Theatre in Slonim. The plays-fairy tales for children created by the dramatist are performed here with great success.

Books by Alexei Yakimovich published during his 20-year long career as a writer and dramatist, and materials about the author’s life and creative activity are displayed at the exhibition.

On May 16, participants of the National Library of Belarus project "On the wave of time throughout life" visited the Uzden Central District Library named after Pavlyuk Trus, where they took part in the literary and musical festival "On the paths of bright spring..." dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the poet, member of the association "Maladnyak", native of Uzden region
