Workers of National Library of Belarus took part in the republican seminar “Activity of public centers of legal information in the field of the legal education of citizens” which took place on June 19-20, 2008, in Polotsk Francysk Skaryna Central Town Library.
The seminar was organized by the National centre of legal information of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Vitebsk regional executive committee, and Polotsk town executive committee.
In the seminar participated representatives of the President of the Republic of Belarus Administration, Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, local administrations, National Library of Belarus, public and scientific regional libraries, and as well regional (district) centers of legal information.
During the seminar were discussed the urgent issues of the work and development of public centers of legal information in the field of informational and legal services, and improvement of legal education of citizens. Representatives of National Library of Belarus read papers “The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus network libraries as public centers of legal information (2005-2007)” and “National Library of Belarus as a centre of scientific and methodological supplying of the activities of public centers of legal information”.
On basis of the materials of the seminar the National centre of legal information of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, and other state bodies and organizations developed a particular program.
