On April 10, the third lecture from the series "Works by modern Belarusian composers in the context of the history of European music" took place in the hall of musical and audiovisual documents.

The staff of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presented the results of their research in the field of Belarusian music to the audience.

This time, the topic of the lecture was the history of the development of chamber and instrumental music in Belarus - from traditional to avant garde. The audience learned what chamber music is, what works relate to it, got acquainted with the history of the origin of chamber genres in European musical art and their formation in Belarusian music.

Fragments of works by A. Turenkov, S. Cortes, V. Kuznetsov, A. Litvinovsky were performed as musical illustrations.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
