The 7th International Congress "Library as a Cultural Phenomenon" began its work on October 21.

The organizers are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus.

Mr Roman Motulsky, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Mr Valery Gromada, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Vladimir Andrievich, Head of Department of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Viktor Sharshun, Deputy Director of the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus, addressed the participants with welcoming words and wishes for fruitful work.

Welcoming letters were sent to the participants of the congress by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus.

An award ceremony was held for the winners of the 28th Republican competition "Library - Center of National Culture" within the framework of the opening ceremony.

On the first day of the congress, a meeting of the Council of Libraries of Belarus on Information Interaction was held, the sections "Information space of regions: preservation and popularization of national culture and local history knowledge", "Organization and regulatory regulation of local history activities", "Development of local history activities: stages, people, communities, documentary heritage ".

The presentation of the online encyclopedia “Belarus in persons and events” was held within the framework of the event. The resource is a source of relevant and reliable information about famous people, monuments of nature, history, culture, institutions and enterprises, which are the first or unique. The online encyclopedia contains the most significant and interesting materials about our country, anniversaries and memorable dates of the Belarusian calendar.

An exhibition of publishing products was open during the day.
