November 3, 2022 marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of People's poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas.
On this day, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the poet was held on Yakub Kolas Square in Minsk.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, cultural and educational institutions, and the National Library of Belarus.
Anniversary events in honor of the Belarusian writer, playwright, poet and translator, public figure will continue with the opening ceremony of the monument to Yakub Kolas in Stolbtsy and a festive concert at the Belarusian State Philharmonic.
The National Library has prepared a literary and artistic exhibition project “Poets of the Belarussian Land”, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.
The creative heritage of artists of the word is represented by publications, original illustrations to the works of writers, personal belongings and documents of poets. Funds of the National Library of Belarus, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, the Yakub Kolas State Literary and Memorial Museum and the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum are involved in creating the exhibition.
Manuscripts with autographs of writers, their personal belongings, certificates of awards and other interesting exhibits give a special atmosphere to the exhibition.
