On November 17, the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation hosted an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Belarus.
The anniversary is always a serious occasion to reflect on the past path, sum up results and determine prospects, it is bright pages of biography and dedicated work, rich experience and search for new things, authority and names that created and continue to create history. Today, the National Library of Belarus successfully combines good old traditions of communication with readers and the latest scientific and technical achievements in librarianship, develops cultural and educational traditions to promote reading and spiritual values, and is an indispensable link in the library community that is open for interaction.
The Moscow audience will see the photo project “National Library of Belarus: Yesterday, Today, tomorrow”, which shows archival and modern art images collected especially for the anniversary. Individual style and handwriting of photo artists allow you to see the past, present and future of the National Library of Belarus through the prism of creative imagination of the authors.
The event was attended by:

- Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus
- Ekaterina Kudrina, Acting Rector of the Moscow State Institute of Culture
- representatives of the library community, creative intellectuals, the Belarusian diaspora, and the media.
A festive atmosphere was added to the event by the performance of Ekaterina Kolotilkina, a student of the Moscow State Institute of Culture, and the concert of “Kamerata” Vocal Ensemble of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, the Belarusian Honored Collective.
In the future, the photo exhibition will be shown in the Belarusian pavilion at the Moscow’s Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy and will allow a wide audience to get a better idea of the main library of Belarus.
