On May 26th, the National Library will host a presentation of a new electronic resource “Fashion and time”; opening of photo and book exhibitions and fashion show of designer clothes.
The event is prepared in cooperation with the Institute of Modern Knowledge named after А.М. Shirokov and the National School of Beauty.
The electronic collection “Fashion and time” is developed by the National Library of Belarus. It contains about 400 sources reflecting fashion trends from the XVI century to present day: digital copies of books, magazines, postcards, photos, video and other documents. The resource will be on open access on the Internet portal of the library.
The National School of Beauty will show collections of adults’ and children’s suits of young designers from the Institute of Modern Knowledge named after А.М. Shirokov and also collections of modern Belarusian stitchwork from the studio Elen Carotte.
Within the bounds of the event, over 100 photos of townspeople in mundane and military suits from the private collection of Doctor of History Alexander Samovich will be presented. Photos are made in photographic studios of Belarusian cities and reflect men’s, women’s and children’s fashion of the beginning of the XX century.
The exhibition of documents from the collections of the National Library of Belarus will allow to see unique editions which copies are placed in the electronic collection “ Fashion and time ” and also to get familiarized with modern sources about fashion.
Action will be interesting to everyone who keeps up on fashion trends, creates their own fashion style, and wishes to learn more about the amazing world of fashion and beauty.
Visitors will enjoy live music, bright defiles and interesting books.
