For visitors of the Fine Arts reading room (room 306) under the permanent heading "Faces. Dates. Events" a new book exhibition "In the fabulous cycle of Valentina Shoba" has been prepared, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Grodno artist.
Mystical and fabulous atmosphere, celestial bodies, solar signs and symbols, mythological characters, anthropomorphic creatures, Belarusian ornaments, literary texts written by hand – all this fills the works of Valentina Shoba, a graphic artist, a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, whose name is known not only in our country but also abroad.
So, in 2015, among more than two thousand participants, the Belarusian artist became the winner of the prestigious French Taylor Prize in Paris, which is awarded annually to artists, sculptors and designers from all over the world. Valentina Vladimirovna is calm about popularity and awards, devoting herself entirely to creativity: "My world is like a hermit. Communicating with paints, brushes, and works is my prayer," she says.
The exhibition "In the fabulous cycle of Valentina Shoba" presents reproductions from the series "The Sun", "Games with the Moon", "Sounds", "The One that awaits you", "365 days", "Crossroads", "National Holidays". The author's technique of the artist is often based on a masterful combination of gouache, watercolour, tempera, pastels.
Valentina Shoba is a natural colourist who sometimes creates her own special world using three colors, which brings viewers back to childhood, brings an atmosphere of celebration and comfort, gives us a sense of enlightenment, elevating us above the familiar and everyday.
