On October 19th, 2009, in the Museum of a Book of National Library of Belarus took place the opening of the Week of Italian language and presentation of the exhibition “The Italian book in Belarusian area in the epoch of Bona Sforza”.
The event had been prepared by the Embassy of Italy to the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with National Library of Belarus.
Incunabula published in Italy in the late XV–XVI centuries were exhibited.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Belarus Julio Prijoni, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus Victor Kurash, Deputy Director of National Library of Belarus for science and public relations Lyudmila Kiryukhina, and Head of the bibliology department of National Library of Belarus Galina Kireeva participated in the opening of the Week of Italian language.
Performances of the flutist group “Brevis” (headed by Paul Suragin) and the student’s chorus from Belarusian State Academy of Music (art director and conductor Inessa Bodyako) were presented to visitors’ attention.
Within the framework of the opening of the Week of Italian language, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Belarus Julio Prijoni handed to National Library of Belarus a collection of books and electronic documents dedicated to customs and culture of Italy.
