On June 29th, within the bounds of the cultural and educational forum “Belarus and Russia: the common system of values” the award ceremony of the Winged Lion international order was held.


The Minsk State Higher Radio Engineering College hosted the event. Head of college Sergey Ankuda made a welcome speech. Pro-rector of the Institute of Management (Arkhangelsk, Russia) presented awards.

For outstanding services to the Motherland revival director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Respublika Anatoly Lemeshonok received the Winged Lion international order.

Laureates of the Winged Lion order, which was established in 1991, are those who have made an important contribution to science, culture and sport. The award as such is the evidence of high prestige and appreciation of the winner’s work and efforts.

Among the winners there are representatives of various fields of human endevour: musician Sir Paul McCartney, ex-President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev, writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, academician Nicolay Petrakov, sportsman and thinker Sri Chinmoy. Laureates of the order in Belarus are peoples artist of the USSR Vladimir Muliavin, rector of the Vitebsk State Medical University Valery Deykalo, rector of the Grodno State Agricultural University Vitold Pestis, rector of the Mogilev State Universiy named after A. Kuleshov Konstantin Bondarenko, known Belarusian wrestler and three-time Olympic champion Alexander Medved and others.
