Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadzim Hihin took part in the celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Azerbaijan named after M.F. Akhundov.
On September 20–21, a number of scientific, cultural and educational events were held in Baku in honor of the centennial anniversary of the largest library of Azerbaijan. The central event was the international scientific and practical conference "National Libraries – Keepers of the Spiritual Wealth of Peoples", where the heads of the leading libraries of the CIS countries, Italy, the Vatican, Turkey and Qatar spoke. In his report, Vadzim Hihin outlined the role of the National Library in the formation and development of the state historical policy of the Republic of Belarus.
Within the framework of the events, the XXVII General Meeting of members of the non-profit partnership "Library Assembly of Eurasia" was held. During the meeting, the participants discussed a number of topical issues for the industry, including professional events of the BAE participating libraries. Vadzim Hihin told his colleagues about the preparation of the X International Congress "Library as a cultural phenomenon", which will be held on October 19–20 at the National Library of Belarus.
