On September 23–25 in Geneva (Switzerland), a consolation between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Library of Belarus was held.
The consultation concerned foundation and functioning of WIPO document depository in the National Library of Belarus.
Considering a great contribution the National Library of Belarus made to the practice of copyright legal use, head of Information Service Center Mr. Omar Katbi on behalf of WIPO signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation.
Within the framework of the depository library program, the National Library of Belarus has to keep WIPO documents. At the end of November 2010 the Library acquired the first set of documents: 128 copies in the Russian and the English languages.
There are materials on international law in the sphere of intellectual property (conventions, agreements), literature on copyright, patents and trade marks, WIPO annual reports and surveys. These documents provide access to the newest information on intellectual property, acquaint with WIPO activities and promote knowledge of copyright and industrial law.
After bibliographical processing, the WIPO materials will be available to users of the National Library of Belarus at the Documents of International Organizations Reading Room (2nd floor, room 207g).
