The meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus was held on February 6 in the National Library of Belarus. They discussed the results of cultural institutions activities in 2017 and made tasks for 2018.

Yury Bondar, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus welcomed the heads and employees of cultural institutions, participants of creative unions and public associations come from all regions of Belarus. The meeting was also attended by Maxim Ryzhenkov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus; Vasyl Zharko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; Irina Dryga, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; Alexander Yatsko, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; Natalia Krasochka, Deputy Head of the Main Department, Head of the Department of Social and Cultural Policy of the Presidential Administration of Belarus; Irina Starovojtova, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Education, Science, Culture and social development; Igor Marzalyuk, chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Education, Culture and Science and other distinguished guests.

During the meeting, the heads of cultural institutions reports on the main directions of development, problems and positive experience in their solution. Legal, social, economic, educational, scientific and human aspects of the development in the sphere of culture were touched upon.

The ceremony of awarding the prizes for the best practice of the activities of local authorities on the implementation of state cultural policy, "Person of the Year in the Field of Culture" and "City of Culture" of 2017.

It is pleasant to note that the high rank "Person of the Year in the Field of Culture" in the nomination "Library Activities" was awarded to Alexandr Susha, Deputy Director for Research and Publishing Activities of the National Library of Belarus.

We remember the great heroic deed

On May 7, on the eve of Victory Day, the staff of the National Library of Belarus laid flowers at the monument "Grieving Mother" in the Chelyuskintsev Park of Culture and Recreation. During the war of 1941-1943, thousands of dead soldiers, shot residents, as well as those who died during the difficult war years from hunger and disease found their last refuge here in mass graves.

We honour and remember!

On the eve of May 9 and in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders, library staff carried out restoration and cleaning of the graves of employees who worked in the library in the pre-war and post-war periods.

UNESCO and Belarus: 70 years of successful cooperation

From May 8 to June 18, the thematic book exhibition "UNESCO and Belarus: 70 years of successful cooperation" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the accession of the Republic of Belarus to UNESCO was opened in the department of official documents of the National Library of Belarus (2nd floor, room 207).
