The presentation of the information and visual project "Forest Song" in Nur-Sultan was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

The event was organized by the National Library of Belarus, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The information and visual project "Forest Song" is a joint initiative of the National Library of Belarus and the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus. It tells about the history of the Belarusian partisan movement.

In this regard, the choice of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a visiting site for this project is not accidental. Kazakhstanis actively participated in the partisan movement on the territory of our country. According to the available data, during the Great Patriotic War, at least one and a half thousand residents and natives of Kazakhstan fought in partisan formations on the territory of Belarus.

"Victory in the war and preserving its memory is what united and will continue to unite the peoples of Belarus and Kazakhstan," noted Ms Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus in her speech at the opening of the exhibition.
