On February 20, the workshop Implementation of the Universal Decimal Classification in Belarusian for the Organization of the Local History Collections and their Display in the Search Engines of Public Libraries was held prepared by the National Library of Belarus at the A.S. Pushkin Minsk Regional Library.
Tatiana Kuzminich, Deputy Director for Information Resources, Svetlana Pugacheva, Head of the Document Indexing Department, Elena Sidorenko, Head of the Humanities Document Indexing Section, the staff of the A.S. Pushkin Minsk Regional Library and the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus took part in the workshop.
Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) as an international classification system and the publication of the UDC in the Belarusian Language (Minsk, 2016) were presented at the workshop. The participants discussed the prospects for further development of the UDC in Belarusian, its alternative use for document systemization, organization of collections, and management of card systematic catalogues, and the information search in public libraries.

As part of the workshop, a master class was held on humanitarian and socio-political documents indexing with the help of the UDC, and systematic decisions on complex cases of classification decisions were considered.
Generation of the search image of documents and the implementation of the thematic search in the E-catalogue of the National Library according to the UDC. as well as new guidance papers of the National Library and libraries participating in the corporate cataloguing and management of the Union E-catalogue of Libraries of Belarus were introduced to the participants.
