On April 10, 2024, a bibliographic lesson "Internationalist warriors in the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders" from the cycle of classes "Let's try to be worthy of their Great Victory", implemented by the National Library of Belarus on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory together with departments of education of Minsk.

In the main treasury of our country, the children searched for the answer to the question: "Which countries’ citizens defended Belarus from the Nazi invaders?". During the bibliographic lesson, the brave researchers found out that our Homeland was defended by citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. Many of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for heroic deeds performed on Belarusian soil during the Great Patriotic War.

The children learned that each book is a treasure trove with biographies of our defenders. We received answers to the questions: "What secret information does the main page (title page) of each book store?", "Which section of the book hides the keys to the treasures (table of contents with pages) and in which parts of the treasury can this important section hide?", "How can we find and order literature?", "Where can we get ordered books?", "At what age can I enroll in the National Library?", "At what age can I visit the library with my parents?".

Methodological techniques used during the lesson: excursion, information message, conversation, bibliographic review of literature, presentation, search by subgroups of exhibits at exhibitions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

At the beginning of the lesson at the exhibition "The Language of military illustration", fifth graders established the location of German helmets, a radio receiver, binoculars of the commissioner of the partisan brigade of the Minsk region in the captured binoculars of the Wehrmacht ground forces of the Carl Zeiss campaign, a Kodak camera.

During the lesson, little patriots studied the pages of biographies of our liberators, Heroes of the Soviet Union: the citizen of Kazakhstan Sadyk Abdujabbarov, took part in the liberation of Polotsk, Beshenkovich, Braslav; the citizen of Azerbaijan, twice Hero of the USSR Azi Aslanov, forced Berezina, liberated Vileika and took part in Operation Bagration; the citizen of Armenia Samand Siabandov – forced Sozh in the area of Staroi Derevni, Gomel region.

The photo archive introduced the children to the biography of Mamadali Topvaldiyev (1919 – 1969), a native of Uzbekistan, commander of the intelligence department of the 5th detachment of the Chekist partisan brigade, Hero of the Soviet Union "... For special merits in the development of the partisan movement in Belarus."

The rumor about the bravery of Topiboldi's firstborn aki and Melibuvi (his mother and father) thundered throughout Belarus. A young guy blew up German barracks and trains, captured 76 Nazis and one general. The commander of the intelligence group "Chekist" Mamadali Topvaldiyev, carving his partisan nickname "Kazbek" on trees with a dagger, left a trail and kept the Germans at bay. Adolf Hitler promised 50,000 reichsmarks for his head.

Mamadali led a detachment that operated in the Ratsevsky forests in the Mogilev region. On account of his unit: mining bridges and roads, the destruction of enemy groups, the release of prisoners of war from the outskirts of occupied Borisov and the center of Tolochinsky district, participation in decisive operations of the "Assault Group", delivery of important reports to the Supreme Commander.

Each time he managed to get away from the massacre. Having escaped from the policemen of the village of Krugloye, he united men from nearby villages – Dudakovichi and Oglobli to fight. Being alone in Vorontsevichi and Lukishki, from a safe shot distance, he opened fire on the approaching Nazis. In July 1944, he was appointed head of the Orsha commandant's office of the 2nd Belorussian Front.

In honor of Mamadali Topvaldiyev monuments were erected in the villages Kruglye and Rishtane, schools and streets were named after him, the village of Paserevo was renamed Topvaldievka, prizes were established in the Kruglyansky district for the best operators of grain flows and crews of combine harvesters, the film "The Unforgettable Song" (1974) was shot, a book by Tulkinjon Zohidov about a partisan from Rishtan was published.

In peacetime, the honoured grain grower from Central Asia was a frequent and welcome guest in Belarus. Dozens of wagons of wood were sent by Belarusians, at his request, to the Serovo (Furkat) station for construction. Our countrymen moved to Uzbekistan to live close to their fellow soldier. The biography of Mamadali Topvaldiyev, whom Belarusians affectionately called the Asian Lion from Pandigan, cannot be explored without tears and admiration.

Mamadali called Belarus his Homeland, and considered the village of Topvaldiivka (Paserevo) to be the main reward. Here, at the beginning of the war years, a simple Belarusian woman saved his life and became his mother. The woman hid the soldier in the cellar, for which she paid with brutal beatings and burned housing. Subsequently, the Uzbek son built a new house for Mother Anna and often visited her. At the age of 82, Anna Vasilyevna Rylkova took a handful of liberated Belarusian land to the grave of her Uzbek son, met with his family.

The dedication with which the young Uzbek fought for Belarus is a vivid example for the younger generations. Our hero tragically died on the eve of Victory Day on May 7, 1969, but his memory will live on for centuries.

After listening to the information about the valiant Mamadali, the pupils were able to answer the question: Why did a native of Uzbekistan call Belarus his homeland? The children came to the following conclusion: "Mamadali Topvaldiyev called Belarus the Motherland because he defended and could die for Belarus," "It was difficult to defend Belarus also because Belarus and Uzbekistan have different natural and climatic conditions." At the end of the lesson, in the hall of musical and audiovisual documents, Anya Bulchinskaya performed the work of J.S. Bach "Invention" on the piano.

Biographies of internationalist soldiers who, along with citizens of the BSSR, took part in the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders are forever inscribed in the history of our state. Today, the common historical memory, glorified by the exploits of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers during the Great Patriotic War, is the basis of interethnic relations between fraternal peoples. It goes without saying that we must tell the younger generation about the War in a form accessible to their age.

The cycle of classes "Let's try to be worthy of their Great Victory", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, includes bibliographic lessons: "Reference literature about the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War", "Internationalist soldiers in the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders", "Brest Hero – Fortress ", "Heroes of the Soviet Union who liberated Belarus: on the pages of printed documents and electronic resources", "Biographical and bibliographic information about the Hero of the Soviet Union Mamadali Topvaldiyev".
