Galina Antonova had worked at the National Library of Belarus for almost 40 years with dedication.

She was born in Dnepropetrovsk (now Dnepr, Ukraine) in the family of a military man. Due to the official duties of the father, the family had to move from place to place several times: Moscow, Chukotka and finally Minsk. Galina entered the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University named after V.I. Lenin in 1966. When she graduated, she had taught Russian language and literature for a period in one of the capital's schools.

Galina’s professional activity had been connected with the State Library of the BSSR named after V.I. Lenin since 1973. She worked in the Service department, the Department of Belarusian literature and bibliography, and the Research department (as a librarian, senior bibliographer, and senior editor). Since 1984 as a senior editor of the Recommended bibliography department. At this time, G.I. Antonova began to prepare bibliographic materials for the bulletin "New books of the BSSR". She was the author of the bibliographic review "To the 170th of the birth of M. Lermantov", bibliographic lists “This free villainous light” and “Mass culture: illusions and reality”, articles on memorable dates of the Belarusian calendar.
Galina Antonova was at the origin of the automation of bibliographic processes in the National Library of Belarus. She joined the working group to create the bibliographic database "History of Belarus" in 1990. Participated in the development of its rubricator for a long time was author–compiler and editor of the database. As a good connoisseur of historical material, she was responsible for bibliography of documents from the period of the Russian Empire.
Participated in the publication of a printed bibliographic index created on the basis of the database "New literature on history and history sciences of Belarus” (1992–1996). As part of the author's groups, she also worked on the bibliographic indexes “Chernobyl” (1993–1996) and “Nikolai Ulashchyk” (2006); electronic resources “Belarus in the Great Patriotic War” (2005), “Let's bow to those great years: dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory” (2010) and “National bibliography of Belarus” (2006); added new data to the database "Belarus: from the past to the present".
Scientific and Bibliographic Department
Galina Antonova had long served as an accountable good example and mentor for her younger colleagues in the field of bibliography. For her conscientious work, significant personal contribution to the development of the national bibliography and active participation in the life of the collective, she was repeatedly awarded the National Library of Belarus commendation, and in 2004 was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
Bibliography Research Department
G. Antonova went on a well–deserved rest in 2013. She passed in 2021 and was laid to rest in Minsk.
