Yuri Gagarin

From February 27 to March 27, the interlibrary and individual subscription reading room will host an exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's birth, "Towards the stars".

Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin forever inscribed his name in the history of the XX century, having made the first human flight into space on April 12, 1961. On the Vostok spacecraft, which launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome, a Soviet cosmonaut made an orbital revolution around the Earth. The flight lasted only 108 minutes, but it became the greatest world event.

The publications presented at the exhibition will tell about the life of the cosmonaut hero, about his love for the sky and his approach to the dream. They will plunge into the warm memories of his relatives: mother, wife, brother. They will introduce the author's works of Yuri Gagarin: the autobiographical novel "The Road to Space" and the book "Psychology and Space", created in collaboration with psychologist V.I. Lebedev, the author's signature on the layout of which Yuri Alekseevich put on March 25, 1968 – the day before his tragic death.

No less interesting are the documents about the history of cosmonautics, about those who stood at its origins, about the development of space technology, about memorable events from the lives of astronauts.

A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the understanding and exploration of space in Belarus, scientists and cosmonauts who have made a significant contribution to the development of Belarusian cosmonautics.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the working hours of the interlibrary loan and individual subscription reading room.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural centre.

Phone for inquiries: (+375 17) 293 27 10.

The material is provided by the Library Services Department.
