 On February 29, the National Library of Belarus held the grand opening of the exhibition "In Search of a Living Soul", dedicated to the 215th anniversary of the classic of Russian literature, novelist, playwright, publicist Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol.

The exhibition presents works by contemporary Belarusian artists, members of the Belarusian Union of Artists, as well as students, undergraduates and teachers of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, students and teachers of the I. V. Akhremchik Gymnasium College, students of the Nesvizh Children's Art School. The exhibition includes pictorial fantasies, graphic reflections, digital experiments dedicated to the work and personality of the writer.

Cozy landscapes, humorous portraits, vivid abstractions, font compositions, characteristic image features, vivid character features and plot interpretations by more than 30 authors combine in the exhibition space into a modern portrait of Nikolai Gogol.

The exhibition is complemented by publications from the collections of the National Library of Belarus. The exhibition features many richly illustrated lifetime and later editions of Gogol's most famous works – the collection "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka", the poem "Dead Souls", the play "The Inspector", satirical prose. There are also translations into Belarusian made by Kondrat Krapiva, Mikhail Mashara, Maxim Luzhanin, and publications about the personality and work of N. V. Gogal.

The exhibition will run until June 9, 2024 at the Atrium Gallery (3rd floor).
The completion date can be changed.

Admission is by the library card or by the social and cultural center ticket.

From May 2 to July 12, the scientific reading room (room 206) will host the exhibition "Science and Education of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War", dedicated to Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders.

The jubilee book exhibition "Penetrating into the secrets of creativity”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of literary critic, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Vasily Borisenko (1904–1984), takes place from April 25 to June 23 in the Belarusian Literature reading room (room 205).

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.
