On April 16, the Panorama gallery of the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the photo exhibition "Living Stones of Antarctica", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Belarusian Geographical Society.
The photo exhibition consists of photographs taken during the Belarusian Antarctic expeditions. The author of the photos is Yuri Giginyak, a leading researcher, associate professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences of the State Scientific and Production Association Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Bioresources.
The exhibition features photographic prints by researcher Yuri Giginyak: the living conditions of scientists, the secrets and beauty of the icy continent, snow–capped landscapes, sunny peaks, sunsets over an iceberg, a long polar night and the Antarctic moon, icy mountains and caves deep in icebergs. The author of the pictures captured the difficulties and funny moments from the life of the inhabitants of the South Pole – penguins and seals.
Special attention is paid to such unusual inhabitants of Antarctica as "living" stones – stone sculptures created by nature, amazing in shape and possible associations.
The exhibition will run until May 21, 2024.
The date of its completion can be changed.
A visit to the exposition is included in the cost of visiting the observation deck.
The mode of operation of the exhibition corresponds to the mode of operation of the observation deck.
