On 17 May, the exhibition “111 years of Chinese cinema” opened in the library.


The grandiose project gathered connoisseurs of Chinese culture at the exhibition in the National Library dedicated to the history and development of Chinese cinema.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests. First Deputy Minister of Culture Irina Driga on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus expressed the gratitude to the Chinese guests for taking the initiative in organizing such an unusual exhibition and the opportunity to meet with Chinese cinematography. Belarus and China regularly exchange the Days of culture and organize the days of cinema, which cause continued interest of the Belarusian audience. Irina Driga also noted that the exhibition would be a new impetus to the further development and strengthening of Belarusian-Chinese relations.

Ambassador Extraordinary of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus Mr. Cui Tsimin said words of welcome. In his speech he stressed that, thanks to the joint efforts of the heads of both countries, strong relations between Belarus and China had established. Since culture is an important element in the development of the country, it is necessary to establish and strengthen cultural ties. About fifty joint large-scale projects have already been implemented, and the exhibition "111 years of Chinese cinema" is another confirmation of the active and successful cooperation.

2017 will be a significant date of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus. During 25 years, both countries have come a long way from getting to know each other to a close and comprehensive cooperation. Head of the friendship society "Belarus – China" Anatoly Tozik, who from 2006 to 2010 was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in the Peoples Republic of China, told the guests about the scheduled anniversary projects and events.

The head of the delegation and first deputy director of the movie channels CCTV6 Ms. Zhang Lin expressed deep gratitude to all the organizations and agencies that participated in the opening ceremony.

The Chinese Film Museum was opened on the occasion of the 100th anniversary since the birth of cinema art in China.First deputy director of the museum Ms. Lee Mili told about the exhibits and donated to the Ministry of Culture of Belarus, the National Library of Belarus and the Belarusian TV and Broadcasting Company models of shadow theater, the scenes of the first Chinese film "The Battle near the Mount Dintszyunshan" and other valuable exposure elements.

Director General of the National Film Studio "BelarusFilm" Igor Porshnev attended the event as a guest of honor. A year ago he had visited the exhibition in Moscow, and is now he was pleased to welcome it in Minsk. "This is the beginning of a big road in cooperation and joint film projects. The first step has been taken: our films are invited to the Belarusian Cinema Week in China", Igor Porshnev said.

Actor of the Studio Theater Konstantin Konyukhov who performed the song Kupalinka, and anchor of the Chinese TV channel Jiang Syaohan who sang the Chinese song Beautiful Flower Rose gave a special flavor to the event. Actor, singer and translator Ding Fan pleased listeners with the songs Believe in Yourself in Chinese and Katyusha in Russian. Despite language differences, all the songs sounded the same melodic and found response in human souls. This once again confirms that culture unites nations.
