From 10 February to 14 March, the exhibition "Faithfulness to a theme and characters", dedicated to the 100th anniversary from the date of Belarusian writer, theater and literary critic V.B. Karpov’s birth (1912–1977), runs in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205).
A talented writer, author of novels, short stories, critical essays Vladimir Karpov made a significant contribution to the post-war Belarusian prose.
The exhibition consists of three sections. The first one is devoted to "The chronicler of his era", which presents Collected works in five volumes (1983–1985). It is the part of the exhibition that more fully tells visitors about writer’s artistic heritage.
The next exhibits of the exposition are collections "Pa puti stalastsi" (On the way of maturity) (1952) and "Krylaty uzlet" (A winged flight) (1966), in which Vladimir Karpov has made himself known as a unique literary critic and researcher. The book includes literary and critical articles about the Belarusian prose and drama. In them the literal critic analyzes literary works of Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Kondrat Krapiva, Kuzma Chorny, Mikhas Lynkov and other writers.
An acquaintance of visitors to Karpov’s literary works starts with his first story "Bez neytralnoy palasy" (1950) (Without neutral stripes) and novels from the series "Na peravale stagodzyau" (On the crossing of a centuries) such as "God za godam" (1957) (Year after year), "Vyasennіya lіunі" (1961) (Spring downpours), "Nyamіgі kryvavyya beragі" (1962) (Bloody shores of the Nemiga River), "Sotaya maladosts" (1971) (The hundredth youth). There are also the last work of the writer – a collection of stories and memories of the Minsk underground "Pryznanne u nyanavіstsі i lyubvі" (1976) (The acknowledgement in hatred and love).
Vladimir Karpov is a co-author of books and photo albums such as "My raskazham pra Mіnsk" (1964) (We will tell about Minsk), "Mіnsk" (1965), "Gorad i gody" (1965) (A city and years), "Skwoz ogon i smert" (1970) (Through fire and depth).
The second section of the exhibition "With courage and bravery in a heart" acquaints with V. Karpov’s translation activity. There are also exhibited writer’s works, translated into Russian, Ukrainian, English, Bulgarian and other languages.
The section "And life, and creativeness" contains publications, placed in encyclopedias, books and magazines.
