From May 15, 2008, in the Visual Materials Reading Room is open an exhibition "The Great Russia by Vasnetsov” dedicated to the 160-th anniversary of Victor Vasnetsov (1848 - 1926), the eminent Russian painter.
Works by the artist are performed in various genres, from genre and easel painting to modernist style and fantastic plot.
A considerable part of works by the artist is religious painting and architectural projects which had a considerable impact on the development of Russian art. He was a poet of the canvas glorifying the national spirit of Russia.
At the exhibition are displayed albums, books, articles, postcards, and reproductions of works by the artist.
We invite to the exhibition everyone who is interested in Victor Vasnetsov’s life and career.
The exhibition is open from May 15, 2008, to June 16, 2008.
