On September 1st, pupils of secondary school number 61 in Minsk attended museum classes at the National Library.

The classes were devoted to the anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing and the life and work of Francysk Skaryna. The young attendees “traveled” with Francysk around the historical map of 16th century Europe, learning about the life, career and book heritage of the printing pioneer.

The Classes in the Book Museum are very special as they let the kids study the national book heritage with the help of a rich collection of book monuments stored in the library. In addition, the museum exhibits the books published by F. Skaryna in Prague, which this year mark 500 years.

At the end of the lessons, the children designed and signed cards, congratulating their parents on the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing. Each attendee was able to embody their imagination and skill by making their own card for memory.

The museum classes are held within the framework of the project “On a Visit to Books” aimed at developing interest in the book, promoting the national book heritage, forming the sense of pride in the achievements and rich traditions of the national book culture.
