The jubilee exhibition "The Light of Spiritual Music" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Belarusian composer Ludmila Shleg is held in the MJusic and Audiovisual Documents reading room (room 305) from September 12 to October 31.

A distinctive feature of the composer's work is the theatralization of musical forms, the active use of elements of modern composer techniques, the brightness of national color. Over the years, L. Shleg constantly turns to folklore, which is related to the re-creation of archaic images, pagan rites and rituals, singing traditions of the Orthodox and Catholic churches. Ludmila Shleg actively works in the field of orchestral, vocal-symphonic, chamber and choral music.

Since the early 1990s, the author's compositional style has had some significant changes. The artist gives thought to spiritual, religious. The composer's attention is directed to Orthodox themes and canonical texts. The Orthodox theme receives the greatest expression in the choral music represented by the hymns "The Savior Not Made by Hands", "Songs about Euphrosyne of Polotsk", "Hymn in Honor of Cyril and Methodius", etc. For the high contribution to the development of the Orthodox singing culture Lyudmila Shleg was awarded a high award, the Prize "For Spiritual Revival".

The exhibition represents the manuscripts and music editions of the composer. The exposition includes works of various genres: oratorios, requiem, choral fresco, symphonic poem, as well as church hymns , cycles of instrumental pieces, choral and instrumental concerts, calendar and ritual songs.

The exhibition also features children's music: the radio opera "Tarakanische", the author's collection of children's plays for trumpet and piano "Lubochek", the instrumental suite-fairy tale "Zabavlyanka", albums of children's piano pieces "Alpha", piano cycle, choral music.
