The jubilee book exhibition "Talented researcher and teacher”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian linguist, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honoured Scientist of Belarus Viktar Uladzimiravich Martynaw (1924-2013), takes place from January 4 to January 31 in the Hall of Belarusian Literature (room 205).
Viktar Martynaw is one of the most outstanding Belarusian linguists. The professor's scientific works are characterized by exceptional fundamentality and diversity. His wide range of scientific interests and achievements ranged from linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, etymology, Slavic studies, Oriental studies to cybernetics, computer science and artificial intelligence.
The researcher's inherent spirit of innovation, extensive, truly encyclopedic erudition, and the ability to work ”at the intersection of sciences" led to the creation of a universal semantic code (USC), which arouses the interest of specialists in the field of autistic management and computer science.
Viktar Martynaw has written and published about 20 books and pamphlets, as well as more than 250 scientific articles. His works are well known not only in Belarus, but also far beyond its borders, and have been highly appreciated by specialists.
An outstanding specialist and talented teacher, V. Martynaw, made a significant contribution to the training of young scientists. Under his leadership, 17 PhD and 4 doctoral dissertations were defended in various linguistic fields.
The exposition introduces the main books of the scientist: " Slavic-German Lexical Interaction of Ancient Times (on the problem of the ancestral homeland of the Slavs)”, “Cybernetics, Semiotics, Linguistics", “The ancestral homeland of the Slavs: linguistic verification", “Ethnogenesis of the Slavs: language and myth", “At the center of human cognition“, etc., a series of publications devoted to the universal semantic code (1977, 1982, 1984, etc.), with collective monographs with his participation " Morphemic distribution in the Belarusian language. Verb", "Vocabulary of Polesie in space and time”, “Etymological dictionary of the Belarusian language” (1-13 issues), numerous scientific articles, a number of reports at congresses of Slavinists.
The exhibition is complemented by publications edited in encyclopedias, scientific articles about the life and work of the hero of the day.
