Every year, since 1960, the results of the work of Belarusian publishers have traditionally been summed up at the Art of the Book competition. Its founder is the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus. The purpose of the competition is to identify the best publishing projects that have become an event in the National Book publishing, to enhance the artistic and printing culture of the Belarusian book, to popularize the best achievements of the publishing houses of the republic over the past year.

The exhibition of the award-winning publications of the LXIII National Competition "The Art of the Book" is opened by the publication "The Taste of Colour Revolutions" (authors – S. R. Musienko, M. V. Osipov; publishing house "Belarus"), which received the Grand Prix in the nomination "Triumph" with the award of the diploma named after F. A score and a commemorative sign-symbol"A large golden folio."

The winners of the following thematic nominations are also on display: "LIT-format" (publications of literary and artistic direction); "Modern textbook" (educational publications); "Photo review" (photo albums, photo books); "Children of the XXI century" (books for children and youth); "ART book" (fine arts publications, facsimile, reprint, bibliophile publications); "Science and Knowledge" (scientific, popular science, reference and encyclopedic publications); "Spirituality" (publications of the spiritual and educational direction).

Among the special nominations of the competition are "For contribution to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage"; "Commonwealth" (joint publishing projects); "In the mirror of time" (books published by order); "Belarus remembers" (books dedicated to the Great Patriotic War).

In the personal nomination "Mastery", Elena Karpovich was recognized as the best illustrator for illustrations to Valery Kostruchin's book "Tales of the Big Forest", and Maxim Shnip was recognized as the best book designer for the publication"A taste of colour revolutions."

The winners of these nominations were awarded with a commemorative badge – the symbol "Small Golden Folio" and a special diploma. Among the favourites of the 2024 contest is the publishing house "Belarus"– it has won in 9 nominations, including the main nomination "A triumph."

The National Library of Belarus sincerely congratulates the winners and prize-winners of the national prize "The Art of Books" and invites everyone to familiarize themselves with the best publications of Belarus in 2023.

The exhibition runs from March 23 to April 24 in the ring gallery on the 3rd floor.
The end date of the exhibition can be changed.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.

Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities

April 18, 2024 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Yevstafiy Tyshkevich, a famous archaeologist, historian, ethnographer, local historian and museologist. His research has raised whole layers of the historical past, he was one of the first Belarusian authors of local lore. To mark the anniversary of the scientist, an exhibition "Connoisseur of Belarusian Antiquities" has been organized in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus.

A Look into Eternity

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
