From June 1, 2009, to July 5, 2009 in the Official Documents Department (the second floor, room 207) is open a book exhibition "Children’s rights protection: national and international experience” dedicated to the International Children Protection Day (June 1).
The International Children Protection Day is observed annually all over the world. This is one of the oldest international holidays which was adopted in November 1949 by the special session of the Women’s International Democratic Federation.
At the exposition are displayed national documents of the Republic of Belarus on children’s rights protection (Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, Family Code of the republic of Belarus, Law of the Republic of Belarus “On children’s rights”, Program of the President of the Republic of Belarus “Children of Belarus” for 2006-2010), “National Program on the improvement of children’s status and children’s rights protection for 2004-2010) as well as more than 100 documents of international organizations (UNO, UNESCO, Council of Europe, European Union and others) in Russian and English languages: books, periodicals, mimeographed materials of the UNO, brochures and booklets.
The exhibition includes the following sections:
- national and international legal documents on children’s rights protection;
- children’s rights protection in the Republic of Belarus;
- children’s health maintenance;
- providing children with quality education;
- protection of children against abuse and exploitation.
The exhibition is designed for pedagogues, lawyers, sociologists, medical workers, cultural workers and everyone who is interested in the urgent issues of children’s rights protection.
