A book exhibition "Following the lines of documents” timed to the 80th birthday of Belarusian literary critic, writer, historian, archeaographer, archivist, laureate of Y. Kolas State Prize (1990) Gennady Kisselyov (1931–2008) runs at reading room 205 from March 14 to April 14.
Gennady Kisselyov was born on 19 March, 1931, in Kolomna (Moscow Region). During his career the scientist worked in Russia, Latvia and Belarus and studied life and work of K. Kalinovsky, F. Bogushevich, V. Dunin-Martsinkevich and other historical figures.
Gennady Kisselyov dedicated many years to the search and restoring of the forgotten names. After a long-term work at Belarusian and foreign libraries and archives he could detect the authorship of the famous poem “Taras na Parnase” (Tarass on Parnassus Hill). The researcher believed that the most probable author of the poem was Konstantin Verenitsyn (1834–1904).
The scientist wrote a number of monographs about the anonymous poems “Taras na Parnase” and “Eneida Navyvarat” (Aeneas Book Inside Out): “The Mystery of Belarusian Aeneas Book” (1971), “In Search of a Name” (1978), “The Classicist Wanted” (1989), “Once upon a Time there were Classicists” (2005).
The exhibition consists of three thematic sections.
Two sections – “The yield of scientific search” and “In a well-grounded and thoughtful way” – reveal all the depth and variety of Gennady Kisselyov’s research work. There are the researcher’s books and articles from scientific collections and periodicals.
The third section “The word is the wealth” presents sources about the author’s life and career.
The exhibition includes more than 100 documents.
