On 10 June, the opening of the exhibition "God's gift of Ivan Kondratyev" dedicated to the 165th anniversary from the date of the birth of the poet, writer, painter and specialist of local lore was held in the National Library of Belarus.

This exhibition is another one step on returning almost forgotten name of a famous son of the Belarusian land. "It is significant that the event dedicated to Ivan Kondratyev is being held here, in the National Library, because I have opened his creativity to oneself within the verge of this building," said Doctor of Cultural Studies, the Head of the Department of Cultural Studies of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, author of the book Bozhy dar Іvana Kandratsyeva (God’s gift of Ivan Kondratyev) Alexander Smolik.

The Professor told the guests that I. Kondratiev’s lifetime edition on his studies of A. Pushkin’s works had fallen into his hands a few years before. "As I hadn’t met his name among known researchers of Pushkin’s heritage, this fact prompted me to learn more about our fellow countryman," said Alexander Smolik.

The Belarusian poet, novelist, playwright, historian and art critic Ivan Kondratyev left a surprisingly rich heritage. Kondratyev’s poetry has lined devoted to both landscape and love. His poetry is like music, it touches the soul’s most delicate strings. No wonder that well-known songs and ballads were written on his poems. At the event some of his songs were performed by the winner of the 11the All-Russia festival-competition "Autumn Romance voice" Natalia Klimkovich and the Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Tkach.

Residents of Vileyka, the place where the poet lived, told many interesting facts about Kondratyev’s life and work.
