A book exhibition “Historian-patriot” timed to the 90th birthday of Nicolay Yermolovich (1921–2000), the Belarusian scientist-historian, literary critic and laureate of the State Prize of Belarus (1992), runs at reading room 205 from 22 April to 9 May
The first exhibition section “The unique researcher of the history of ancient Belarus” presents Nicolay Yermolovich’s scientific heritage. The major theme of the scientist’s study is the history of Belarus in the IX–XIV centuries: colonization of Eastern Europe by Slavic tribes, ethnogeny of the Belarusian people, political history of ancient Belarus, the foundation of the Great Duchy of Lithuania etc. The scientist is the author of the historical studies “Following one myth” (4th edition, 2002), “Ancient Belarus: Vilno Period” (1994), “Ancient Belarus: Polotsk and Novogrudok Periods” (1990, 2001), “Belarusian State and the Great Duchy of Lithuania” (1999, 2003).
Nicolay Yermolovich’s scientific studies of F. Bogushevich, Y. Luchina, Y. Kupala, Y. Kolas, A. Gurinovich, K. Kalinovsky and other histprial figures are also on display.
The section “The search for the aboriginal truth” includes publications from scientific magazines and encyclopedias about the scientist’s life and career.
