From January 16 to March 26, the Legal Information reading room (No 207b) will host the exhibition "Information Security in the Structure of Law", dedicated to the Safer Internet Day (February 14).

Safer Internet Day was established in January 2004 and is celebrated annually on the second Tuesday of February. The purpose of the holiday is to inform people about the responsible and safe use of the Internet.

The Internet is an integral part of our lives today. It provides wide opportunities for learning, communication, work, and recreation: it saves us time, allows us to make purchases, work from the comfort of our homes, and make payments without queues. However, the Network is fraught with many dangers. An unintelligent life in virtual reality can also result in loss of money, health, business reputation, and problems with law enforcement agencies.

The Internet is a special virtual world with its own laws, criminals and those who protect order in it. It is inextricably linked to the real world and is already inseparable from it, which is why the issue of security on the Internet is becoming more acute every day. Taking into account the challenges faced by the world community in the context of the pandemic, the issues of maintaining an adequate level of information security have become more urgent than ever.

The Republic of Belarus did not stand by from the world processes. During its existence as a sovereign state, the laws "On the Concept of Information Security of the Republic of Belarus", "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection", "On measures to improve the use of the national segment of the Internet" and others were developed and adopted. Safe and successful use of the Internet is impossible without creating a favorable legal regime and reflecting its specifics in legislation.
