Masters of the detective genre

Other news

From June 30, 2008, in the National Library of Belarus is open a book exhibition “Masters of the detective genre”.

Detective is a genre which was ignored by literary critics for a long time. As a rule, an unusual popularity and accessibility of detective books was the reason for the doubt about their quality. There is a mystery, a riddle in a detective book. The purpose of a detective story is a solution of a riddle. Each detective story is based on a logical process with the help of which an investigator, following the chain of facts, solves a crime.

At the exposition are displayed over 200 books by various authors – from classic detective authors to the modern writers. There are presented the following book series:

• “Classical detective”;
• “Historical detective”;
• “Ironic detective”;
• “Psychological detective”;
• “Women’s detective”;
• “Black square” and others.

In the section “Belarusian detective” are displayed books by Belarusian authors N. Chegrinets, V. Pravdin, S. Trakhimenko, and others.
Suspense fiction, including detective stories, is very popular among readers. We hope that you will enjoy the exhibition.
The exhibition is located in the circular passage (the third floor, near the gallery “Labyrinth”).
