From July 17, 2008, to September 3, 2008, in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305) is open an exhibition "Musician of a Great Talent and Inspiration” dedicated to the 70-th anniversary of Igor Luchenok, the Belarusian composer, people’s artist of Belarus and the USSR, and honored art worker.
The Belarusian composer Igor Luchenok is a talented master who made an important contribution to Belarusian musical art. Academic instrumental and vocal works created by the composer are performed at concerts and studied in musical schools. The most popular are songs by Igor Luchenok full of warmth and sincerity, expressive melody, national color, and a unique harmony of words and music.
At the exhibition are displayed music and audio records by popular works by the composer which became laureates of festivals and contests. Among them – ballads “Memory of the Heart”, “Khatyn”, lyrical portraits “Veranika”, “Alessya”, anthems to the native land “Heritage”, “My Native Land”, “Cranes are Flying to Polessye”, a poem-legend “Guslar”, as well as instrumental compositions “Humoresque”, “Birch”, and “Belarusian Pictures”. There are displayed as well books, articles from periodicals, and photo materials dedicated to Igor Luchenok’s life and career.
