From July 23, 208, to August 31, 2008, in the National Library of Belarus is open an exhibition "Peace. Holiday. Glory" dedicated to the XXIX-th Olympic Games.
There may not be a person who would be indifferent to the Olympic Games. All countries of the world prepare for this event long before the next Olympic year. Special committees discuss and decide in which country the Games will take place. The future participants are training, referees are worrying, the audience is looking forward to the beginning. And at last, once four years the significant day comes.
The Olympic Games are an imposing and amazing holiday of youth, beauty, health, and strength. This is an awesome performance of the world skill which units the whole humanity for 2-3 weeks, attracting attention of millions people from different countries.
The National Library of Belarus and the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus present a book exhibition "Peace. Holiday. Glory" timed to the XXIX-th Olympic Games in Beijing.
At the exposition are displayed over 300 materials from the collections of National Library of Belarus and National Archive of the Republic of Belarus. The displayed materials acquaint visitors with the origins of the Olympic holiday in the Ancient Greece, renaissance of the Olympic Games at the end of the XIX-th century, the main principles of the Olympic movement, symbolism of the Olympic Games, Olympic history of the Republic of Belarus, peculiarities of the summer Olympic Games, and the country where will take place the XXIX-th summer Olympic Games.
At the exhibition are displayed as well archive materials on the results of Belarusian teams-participants of the Moscow Olympic Games - 80 and a reach material on the the Moscow Olympic Games - 80 organizing.
