On 11–30 September, a book exhibition “Temples of time, memory, thought” timed to Libraries Day runs in the National Library of Belarus (2nd floor, circular hall).
On 15 September the Republic of Belarus celebrates Libraries Day. This date is timed to the Day of foundation of the main library of Belarus – the National Library of Belarus. This observance of the Library Day manifests that the library is officially an important social institute which activity exerts a salutary influence on spiritual, cultural and intellectual life of the nation.
The government supports activities of Belarusian libraries in the field of information cooperation, automation, coordination of information resource development and integration of all libraries into united library network.
The book exhibition “Temples of time, memory, thought” presents the library as a social institute which features, activities and dimensions are not static but, on the contrary, they are constantly changing and transforming. However the library is still a home to the world wisdom, a keeper of hand-written and printed monuments of written language, a basis of research activity and a guarantor of people’s education and culture.
The exposition includes about 200 scientific and educational editions on the history of libraries, library law, management, social and scientific researches, innovation in library and bibliographical user service, interlibrary cooperation, and also outstanding figures in the field of library science.
Particular editions about the biggest libraries of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, China and other countries are also interesting.
