From June 17th to September 5th, the Hall of Musical and Audiovisual Documents (Room 305) hosts the exhibition "A Musical World of Heinrich Wagner", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth.
Henry Matusovich Wagner (1922-2000) was one of the largest Belarusian composers of the second half of the twentieth century. He is the author of numerous operas, ballets, cantatas, oratorios, symphonic, choral, chamber-instrumental and vocal performances. The composer is responsible for creating the first Belarusian TV opera "Ranak". In addition, he made a significant contribution to the development of the concert genre.
The opera "Path of Life" brought fame to Heinrich Matusovich. The "Path of life" is the first Belarusian opera, which makes thinking through the events of the Great Patriotic War. Its premiere in 1980 became a significant musical and theatrical event in the republic and, according to critics, opened a new page in the history of the Belarusian national opera.
The composer has always tried to enrich the traditions of Belarusian music with modern assets of musical expression. His music bears the characteristics of impulsiveness and dynamics, and clarity, thoughtfulness of dramatic concept and shape, brave and whimsical melodic and rhythmic lines characterize all Wagner’s compositions.
The exhibition presents printed music collections of G. Wagner's works, materials dedicated to the events of his creative life, as well as audio documents from the collections of the National Library of Belarus.
