An exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Alexander Solzhenitsyn is opened in the circular corridor of the 2nd floor from December 4 to December 31.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn is Russian writer, playwright, journalist, poet, public and political figure who lived and worked in the USSR, Switzerland, the USA and Russia, won the Nobel Prize in literature "for the moral strength derived from the tradition of the great Russian literature" (1970).
By the 100th anniversary of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the National Library of Belarus prepared an exhibition entitled "Through the pages of the great life", which features more than 100 documents: his literary and artistic creativity, polemical essays, literary critical essays, and studies of the life and work of the writer.
The central part of the exhibition is occupied by four major works "The Red Wheel", "Cancer Ward", "The Gulag Archipelago", "In the First Circle", as well as the collected works prepared for publication with the participation of the author himself.
The exhibition also includes works by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, which brought world-wide fame to the writer: "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich", "Matrenin Dvor" (Matrena’s House) and "Zakhar-Kalita" (Zakhar-the-Pouch).
The exhibition presents the text of the Nobel lecture delivered by Alexander Solzhenitsyn in Stockholm.
The exhibition is addressed to literary critics, teachers, students and everyone who is interested in A. Solzhenitsyn and the history of Russian literature of the twentieth century.
The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
