The exhibition “Through the sufferings to the happiness”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary from the date of the birth of Ales Makhnach (1922–2001), a play writer, prose-writer, publicist, will be held in the Belarussian literature room (No 205) from August 17th to September 29th.

Ales (Aleksandr Ivanovich) Makhnach was related to the generation of writers, whose creative and life path was formed under the circumstance of uneasy, but heroic events of the Great Patriotic War. Ales defended the Brest fortress in 1941 and was injured severely and captured. When he was released from the concentration camp in 1945, he had been treated in military hospitals, remained disabled. A. Mahnach began his literature activity by verses, single act plays. He wrote for children mainly; spent much time to think over heroic of the Great Patriotic War.

In the creative mixture of the writer are the plays, short dramatic plays, comedies, sketch, intermedia, dramatic, prosaic and verses, local lore and publicists writings. Some of his works were translated and played in the theaters, on the Belarussian radio and television. Many of them were included in the collection, many were printed separately or in periodicals. The following works are presented for the visitors: “Dramatic sketches”, “The pitcher goes often to the well”, “Everyone keeps in step”, “We will be living”, “Children of the fortress”, “Let the life shows off”, “The commander of the eastern fort”, from the series “To know Belarus as your region” – local lore writings “The bottom”, “The swamped place” and other.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
