Representatives of libraries, information centers, bookseller organizations and other institutions of the Republic of Belarus took part in the 17th International Conference “Crimea-2010”.
The conference “Crimea-2010: Libraries and information resources in the modern world of science, culture, education and business” was held in Sudak and other towns of Crimea on June 5-13,2010.
The conference theme: “The role of libraries in information culture improvement and cultural heritage preservation under modern conditions of society development”.
The attention was focused on creation and functioning of electronic libraries and corporate library-information systems, problems of modern library and information science, and also specificity of library activity under conditions of toughening of copyright protection law.
The Belarusian delegation including 19 persons was represented by heads and specialists of the National Library of Belarus, Belarusian Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Minsk Regional Library, the Scientific Library of Belarusian Scientific and Technical University, the Library of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Information Administration of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the USA Embassy in the Republic of Belarus, the privately owned enterprise “Sis Engineering”, the closed joint-stock company “Delsar”, the company “Novoye Znanie” and the joint limited company “Tregross”.
On behalf of the National Library of Belarus, Deputy Director for Information Resources T.V. Kuzminich delivered the report ”Factographic databases generated by the National Library of Belarus as the source of information on national objects” (seminar “Cultural heritage preservation”); head of the Information Center A.A. Sheremeteva delivered the paper ”Organizational experience and legal support of the content of the electronic library of the National Library of Belarus” (section “Electronic libraries”).
