On 23 October, the International congress “The library as a cultural phenomenon" starts at the National Library of Belarus.
The National Library of Belarus will host about 500 congress participants from 17 countries – leading specialists of libraries, publishing houses, educational and research institutions, and also manufacturers of computer software, engineering equipment and information products.
Within the framework of the Congress a conference “Information society and society of knowledge: role and place of libraries” will be held. For the first time the Library will host an exhibition “Electronic information resources and services” in which more than 20 companies developers of computer software and electronic information resources will participate.
Plenary and section sessions, round tables, discussion and presentation platforms and a number of other events are on the Congress program. Within the framework of the Congress the following topics will be discussed: various aspects of library activities against the background of information society, engineering and technological innovations, the issues of library human resources. Also there will be held presentations of electronic information resources for science, culture and education, computer software for information search systems and services, electronic collections and libraries.
