On April 23, an educational seminar "Copyright in the context of digital transformation" was held at the library. The seminar was organized jointly with the National Intellectual Property Center with the participation of the Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University.
During the seminar, the participants got acquainted with the peculiarities of the application of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Copyright and Related Rights" in the work of libraries, highlighted the problems of the functioning of electronic libraries on the Internet and the protection of copyright objects created by artificial intelligence.
Viktar Pshybytka, Deputy Director General, Director of Information Resources and User Services of the National Library of Belarus, and Alexey Kurman, First Deputy Director General of the National Intellectual Property Center, addressed the participants of the seminar with a welcoming speech.
The issues of collective management of property rights in the Republic of Belarus and responsibility for their violation were highlighted by Andrey Luchenok, Head of the Rights Protection Department of the Copyright and Related Rights Department of the National Intellectual Property Center.
Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law of BSU Diana Ivanova, examined the presumptions in copyright, revealed their essence and significance. She gave examples of lawsuits filed in court regarding the establishment of authorship, as well as evidence from the plaintiff and the defendant.
Oleg Yadrevsky, Associate Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of BSU, highlighted the problems of protecting copyright objects created by artificial intelligence.
Victoria Shadrina, Yulia Dashkovskaya, Daria Kostyuchenko and Vladimir Koshkin, specialists of the National Intellectual Property Center, touched upon the current problems of copyright in the field of theatrical activity, in the functioning of electronic libraries, and the computer games industry.
The presentations of the seminar participants sparked a lively discussion on the application of the norms of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Copyright and Related Rights" in the creation of electronic libraries.
