The National Library of Belarus presented a master workshop on "Replacing lost leather binding elements with restoration fibre paper" as part of the events organized by the Belarus’ Ministry of Culture and Russian Federation’s Ministry of Culture organised to commemorate the Days of Russian Spiritual Culture.
Alyona Pruntseva, a third category restoration artist and employee of the Russian State Library's Library Collections Restoration Department, led the master class on October 13.
Individual restoration methods can be carried out to their full potential when non-functional leather binding components are restored using restoration paper. A master class featuring the chance to watch an expert at work, ask clarifying questions, become familiar with the supplies used, and talk about the method's application aspects would be of great interest to professionals working in the restoration of paper documents.
The master class was attended by Belarus’ National Library specialists, the Belarus’ National Archive, the Ya. Kolas Central Scientific Library of the Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences, the Minsk City History Museum, and the Institute of History of the Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences.
