Restoration and conservation of a paper document – a 500-ruble state credit card of the 1912 model (manager I. Shipov, cashier Ovchinnikov, Soviet issue of the end of 1917-1918), which is part of the family history.
Banknotes of the Russian Empire with a face value of 500 rubles of the sample of 1912, despite their advanced age, are not yet uncommon. The paid service for the restoration and preservation of an antique bill was due to the desire of its owner to preserve the family history associated with the document (the bill has been kept in the family since 1918) and to ensure its long-term storage.
To perform these tasks, the bill was carefully straightened, digital copies of the sides of the original were made. After that, the bill was cleaned of grease, stains and lumps were weakened, the depth of cleaning was determined by the dilapidated condition of the paper in places of brown spots. The paper losses in the place of the central crease were made up, the bill was duplicated on Japanese paper on both sides (a reversible restoration method). To store the document, an acid-free cardboard case was made to fit its format, printed digital copies of the original were glued to the outer sides of the case.
