On October 27, the city of Shklov, Mogiljov region, hosted a republican seminar "Library local lore in the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of the region" with the participation of representatives of the library network from all regions of Belarus.
E. Berezovskaya, Chief Specialist of the Culture and Folk Art Department of the Belarus Ministry of Culture, and O. Shvedova, Chief Specialist of the Board of Culture of the Mogiljov Regional Executive Committee's Department for Folk Art, Cultural and Leisure Activities, and Educational Institutions, welcomed the participants.
Participants reviewed modern approaches to popularising and promoting historical and cultural heritage in their reports, shared their experience in creating regional electronic resources, and became acquainted with regional libraries' activities in collecting and preserving historical memory and folk traditions. Staff from the National Library of Belarus, including M. Shopina, Head of the Bibliology Research Department, and N. Barsukova, Chief Bibliographer of the Bibliography Research Department, also gave presentations.
The seminar's outcomes were summarised by A. Davydovich, Deputy Chairman of the Shklou district Executive Committee.
The participants had a thorough cultural programme that included learning about the works of regional artists, reviewing exhibitions, and taking educational tours of the city and the local history museum's display.
