The symbolic initiation of the «1 Z» pupils of the Minsk gymnasium № 43 was held in the frameworks of the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the "Primer".

The idea to organize the event for pupils was initiated by their teacher Evgenia Syritsa.

Within the walls of the country's main library of the children received their first book for learning. The pupils learned that the first book titled "Bukvar" celebrates 400th anniversary this year. Today the road to the world of knowledge of children begins from this book not only in Belarus, but also in many countries of the world, and the “Bukvar” word entered the modern Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and other languages.

The pupils visited the exhibition "Belarus and the Bible", where they saw ancient memorials of the manuscript and printed book culture. American reseacher Denise Ellen Carroll talked about school life in ancient times, and gave each student a goose feather.

At the exposition kids learned about Belarusian first printer and were amazed by the facsimile edition of the "The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna". Pupils learned that in ancient times, the Bible was a training book to master the knowledge of grammar, history, philosophy, logic, rhetoric, music, arithmetic, astronomy.

At the end of the event little guests made an applique dedicated to the National Library of Belarus.
