On 10 February, within the framework of the 19th Minsk International Book Fair, at the gallery “Labyrinth” took place a forum “The book in Venezuela” and was held a ceremony during which a set of Venezuelan books was presented to the National Library of Belarus.
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky and second secretary of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and head of the trade and economic cooperation and mass media department Maria Elena Rojas delivered welcoming speeches.
In the forum participated: famous Venezuelan writer Luis Britto García; chairman of the Romulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies Roberto Hernandes Mantoja; head of the publishing department of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research Pamela Navarro; councilor of the Central Bank of Venezuela and coordinator of the edition “Venezuela and the Oil” Carlos Mendoza Potelja; head of the publication department of the Central Bank of Venezuela Maria Valentina Arrojo.
The Venezuelan guests told in detail about the book publishing, the development of librarianship, the fight against illiteracy and the improvement of education in Venezuela.
Within the framework of the meeting the Ministry of People’s Power for Education and the Ministry of People’s Power for Culture of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Central Bank of Venezuela and the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research presented book collections to the National Library of Belarus.
