The delegation from Belarus visited one of the largest libraries of the world on July 18th – new Alexandrian library of the Arab republic of Egypt.

The goal of the visit was to decide on the opening of the exposition for miniature books in the new library of Alexandria and establishing direct contacts for cooperation.

While visiting, the guests were introduced to operation of the library and specific aspects of social and cultural user service.

The delegation consisted of Tatiana Filimonova, the chairperson of the Belarussian worker’s union for culture, information, sports and tourism; Tatiana Yakubovich, the chairperson of the Belarussian worker’s union for education and science, and Radmila Bukach, the head of socio and cultural center of the National library of Belarus.

The delegation have agreed to hand over as a gift 12 miniature books “The Book Heritage of Belarus” solemnly to display in the new Alexandrian library and extend cooperation in the librarian field.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.

From May 6 to July 5, the Reference and Information Service reading room (room 257) hosts the book exhibition "Belarus Unconquered", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
