"Among the small and large cultural centers that were born and grew up on the Belarusian land during the Soviet era, the Lenin Library is a star of the first magnitude," Yulia Bibila wrote.

In the 1970s, the State Library expanded its cultural ties, conducted book exchange with 150 libraries and scientific institutions in 28 foreign countries. Igor Valentinovich Zholudey, head of the Department of Foreign Literature, said that in October 1970 an exchange was established with the National Library of Vietnam.

An important and necessary issue-the creation of the history of librarianship in the republic, was considered on the pages of Zvyazda. The author of the article S. Osharovich noted: “The work on writing the history of libraries and librarianship should not be episodic, but conducted systematically. Practical experience suggests that it is advisable to have a section on the history of librarianship in Belarus as part of the scientific and methodological department of the V. I. Lenin State Library...”

In modern times, such work is underway in the National Library of Belarus, an electronic information resource “The history of librarianship of Belarus” has been created, revealing the library's long-term experience in studying the history of librarianship.

The article by Irina Aleksandrovna Sankova, Deputy Director of the V. I. Lenin State Library (Lim. 1970. 16 October. pp. 4, 5), in which she reflected on the creative search in librarianship, deserves attention. The author reminded bibliographers whose names are widely known not only in the library world of the republic, but also in the country – Nina Borisovna Vatatsi, Zoya Vladimirovna Dyakonova, Alexandra Pavlovna Demchenkova, as well as other enthusiasts of mass libraries, constantly looking for ways in which the book can come to the reader.

In the 1970s, the library was a National scientific institution of universal profile, the central book depository of Belarus, a scientific, methodological and scientific bibliographic center.

"The book fund must be constantly replenished – this is the ”golden” law of library work,“ wrote the author of the article ”in the vastness of the book sea." Anna Filippovna Mozzhukhina, head of the fluid acquisition sector, whose duties included: total accounting of receipts, current work on acquisition, bibliographic matters, was described in this material:

Larisa Arsenova, an employee of the department of reference, bibliographic and information work, noted: “in our business, it is important not to be mechanical. You definitely need to know what this or that certificate is needed for: for a thesis or an article, for a dissertation or a speech at a scientific conference. Only then can you prepare a really qualified certificate. told about the activities of this department, which provides about 130 different references daily, on the pages of the newspaper Literature and Art Ya. Ivanova.

At the end of 1970, the library had about forty thousand readers.

The 50th anniversary of the State Library of the BSSR named after V. I. Lenin became a holiday for more than ten thousands of book lovers. On September 20, 1972, a creative evening was held in the concert hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic with the participation of writers, scientists, representatives of libraries of the republic, masters of art. A scientific and practical conference of library staff was held in the library hall for two days to coincide with the golden anniversary of the main book depository.

On October 25, a solemn meeting was held dedicated to the presentation of a high government award to the library, at which Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the BSSR F. A. Surganov noted: “The State Library of the BSSR has grown into one of the largest book depositories of the Soviet Union over the 50 years of its existence... It is an important link in the system of scientific and technical information, the scientific and methodological center of the republic in the field of bibliography and library science...”

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the library was awarded a high government award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.

With a regular library reader-Lyudmila Silovna Ravnopolets, a junior researcher at the Department of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, who was working on a dissertation at that time and in the future became an employee of the department “Informculture" of the state library (now information and analytical department), was introduced to us by the author of the material “The Power of Truth” S. Polyakova in the newspaper “Soviet Belarus” dated January 20, 1974.

From the article “The Breath of the Ancient Times”, published in 1974, we learned that the library received as a gift from the State Library of the USSR a rare example of Russian printing art of the end of the XVI century - the "Bible" (1581), printed by the Russian first printer Ivan Fedorov in the Ukrainian city of Ostrog, which can still be found in the library today.

More than 700 books, pamphlets, magazines, posters, and illustrations presented in five thematic sections gave a vivid idea of what place a woman occupies in our literature, parenting, and in the life of society as a whole.

The exhibition was timed to coincide with the international meeting of women, which took place in Minsk in August 1975.

In the newspaper “Vecherny Minsk” on March 19, 1975 in the column “It is interesting to know“ the material “What is ”BK“ was printed, from which readers learned about the books of the library with the mysterious mark ”BK". Margarita Efimovna Kondratovskaya, an employee of the State Library, reported that all these books were from the library of the philologist-slavist, founder of the Belarusian scientific linguistics and literary studies Efim Fedorovich Karsky, which he transferred to the library in the 20s of the XX century. During the Great Patriotic War, the Nazis looted the Karsky library, and it had to be restored bit by bit.

In the article by the famous journalist V. Shimolin "The librarians of the forty-fifth", the history of our library came to life vividly, the author reminded some of the senior staff, those who restored and saved funds in the post-war period.

"Few of the former employees of the Belarusian State Library named after V. I. Lenin returned to liberated Minsk. The picture of ruthless destruction, ruins and ashes will forever remain in the memory of N.B. Vatazzi, now an honored worker of Culture of the BSSR, F. A. Merina, M. I. Massenzhnik, demobilized from the army A. I. Zinina, R. G. Savchuk and others.” Bronislava Mikhailovna Lefta, a graduate of the Moscow Bibliographic Institute, who came to Minsk after the advancing Soviet units, recalled:

The collection of books for the state Library of the BSSR began in 1943 in Moscow. Some of the books were found and returned to their homeland after the defeat of Nazi Germany. In 1945, an echelon with an invaluable cargo arrived in Minsk – half a million books, most of them were damaged. The real “diamonds” were found by the library staff among the returned books. An officer of the Soviet Army, who sent books to Belarus with the stamp of our library in 1945, left his autograph written in simple pencil on the second page of the cover of the book by V. I. Lenin's "The Economic Content of the People and its Criticism in Mr. Struve's book" (1936):

The National Library still cherishes these books today as a memory of those unforgettable days.
